Headshot Photography Tips

As I mentioned in my previous post, there are many benefits when it comes to headshots; but one of my favorite ones is the ability to create relationships. I always like to quote Simon Sinek, a famous entrepreneur. He says: “People don’t buy what you do; they buy why you do it.” So your leads will relate to you and everything you offer through clear pictures of your face. You want your potential clients to become followers of your brand because they will connect you to their friends and family and, even better, will purchase again from you. So if you’re at this point where you need headshot pictures but don’t know where to begin, stick with me because I’m about to share some killer tips!

  • Look for a photographer that makes you feel comfortable. First and foremost. You and your photographer have a relationship. They need to understand your essence, your brand, and what you have to offer. Meet with your photographer first! Find out if you’re a good match; the rest will happen naturally.

  • Be yourself. Your experience with Headshot Photography may be similar to Chandler from friends:

If this is your case, you have nothing to worry about! Here at Bobbi Jo Brooks Fine Art & Photography, we encourage our clients to be themselves and strive for poses that will make them feel comfortable and natural.

  • Find inspiration. Look at what other people in your niche are doing and find some inspiration on Google or Pinterest. It’s also essential to get an idea of what you want to project so your photographer can guide you accordingly.

  1. Wear your confidence! We all have fantastic value to share. When getting your Headshots done, think about why you are unique and what you have to offer. Use accessories to demonstrate professionalism and have a winning mentality! When you book a session with us, you’ll get a complete experience guide to help you with the latest details, so all you have to do is relax and have a good time!

A Headshot Photography Experience

I was lucky to work with a fantastic company called The C Three Group. They are market experts in energy infrastructure. They’ve worked with amazing clients and have lots of experience in their field. They reached out because they wanted headshots of their staff. I was honored to be selected as their photographer. Emily Garlock, an Analyst at C Three, shares what it was like to work with me:

Our company had the absolute pleasure of working with Bobbi Jo for headshots for our whole team.  To say that we were lucky to have booked with Bobbi Jo would be a severe understatement.  From start to finish, and every step in-between, Bobbi Jo was an absolute professional, creative guru, and godsend.

My very first point of contact with Bobbi Jo was with her website.  From the moment the website loaded I was immediately entranced by the photos on display.  Every photo, from the family portraits to the headshots, had a high level of finish and an unexplainable spark.  After looking at several websites before this I knew that this was the photographer to take our team’s headshots.  I submitted for a quote and began the process of booking.  Through the whole booking process Bobbi Jo answered my hundreds of thousands of questions.  After booking there was a huge wrench thrown in our plans due to my boss getting sick.  Bobbi Jo pivoted like a true professional and worked with everything that we threw at her.

After all the hurdles that we had to jump we finally made it to the photoshoot day.  Bobbi Jo was punctual and set up without disturbing our office.  My whole team could not stop talking about how much fun they had while they were taking photos with Bobbi Jo.  She took the time to make sure that everyone looked great and took a huge variety of pictures.  I knew that these pictures were going to be good even through the small review screen on the back of the camera.

When we received our link to our raw pictures, I can honestly say that I was shocked at how amazing the regular unaltered pictures turned out.  Everyone was ecstatic to view their pictures and to pick out their favorite headshot.  The process to pick our desired headshots was as easy as clicking a few buttons and sending them off for the final edit.  I could spend a fair amount of time gushing about how wonderful the final product turned out.  However, I will just say that the final pictures turned out stunning and that is not a phrase I would typically use for a picture of myself.

If you are looking for a photographer in the Atlanta area then you need to book with Bobbi Jo, she is the whole package.

Thank you C Three for the opportunity! If you’re looking for someone to take professional headshots of you or your team, book a call now with me!
