Your Greatest Business Asset

You’ve researched competitive pricing, social media marketing, and SEO strategies to get found and convert customers. You’ve narrowed down your brand, from your website colors and copy to your ideal customer avatar. That’s a great start! But have you discovered your greatest asset, your unique selling proposition, the ONE THING that sets your business apart from every other?
Well, I’ll let you in on a little secret:
Your greatest asset is…YOU!

Hear me out: Many people can paint a pretty picture. Lots of folks sell cool products or start interesting businesses. Anyone can become a dancer, a life coach, or most other things with proper training. So if anyone can do what you do, the factor that makes your business unique is not that it’s different, but that it’s YOURS. From the way you solve problems to the happy dance you do when another order arrives/client signs on/commission gets requested, your personality and perspective play into every area of your business. When clients and customers convert, they’re signing up not only because they love your product/service/art, but because they feel a connection to you.

So, how do you play up your greatest asset? Highlight it at every chance you get. Give prospective clients the opportunity to know, like, and trust you by showing up authentically online and in real life. This could look like
- Sharing the story behind your business: why you started and what motivates you
- Celebrating your wins, asking for advice, and mourning your losses authentically (people want to see the whole you, not just the filtered, Insta-perfect version)
- Showing your face on your website, social posts, and Instagram stories (you can’t win trust if you’re hiding!)
- Letting people see your process/routine/workspace; everyone loves a good BTS!
Get the picture? The more you allow potential customers to get to know you, the easier it will be for them to say YES! when you offer your service/product/experience.

Personal branding photography is one of my favorite ways to spotlight YOU in your business. A branding session puts your personality on full display, allowing people to become familiar with your face, your energy, and your work. (Read more about personal branding photography here.) Think of branded images like visual stories, communicating your entire business without a word. Not only that, but images can be repurposed to meet your needs across social media, your website, and all your marketing materials. Sounds like a win-win to me!
